To be honest, I have no idea what my weapon looks like.
What I do know is that it has req 9 on soul reaping, and will halve the recharge time (20% chance) on ALL spells.
Now THAT to me is cool.
Armour - now that's another issue.

When it comes to me and a sword, as you said it in the title, it's a Flamberge or nothing. There are no other swords for me. Rare skins? What are those? There is only Flamberge. Collector's items? There are no collector's swords. Collectors don't offer Flamberges. Swords are rare in Factions... Afflicted Rangers are the only enemies that drop Flamberges.
I think you all get my point. I won't equip any sword-class weapons on any of my characters unless it's a Flamberge. Every other sword is just trade-bait or merchant-fodder.
The Original and still the Best... Flamberge. It's Everything you want to be.

For me it all depends on personnal taste - but must have perfect stats with req 9
My ele has a nice collection of customized collector/weaponsmith one handed weapons/offhands. Since I think the prophecies skins are just the best for an ele.

Oh man, I would so use a Flamberge... if I had a MALE warrior. That's right, I got a female warrior, so it's only the small/medium weapons for me. Which is fine because swords like the Sunqua Blade I mentioned earlier look really good on a female warrior, and not so much on a male.
I did, at one time, have a nice gold Req9 Flamberge that I had Koss use. At least it was nice from a distance.

Haha! That sounds like an advertisment.
Dont mean to change the subject to drastically but, do many monks use sheilds in pve as well? I will probably just use an offhand.
And to the person that said they used a healing rod. The reason some monks use swords is because of the great versitile of 20% enchants on 1 hand. That way the second hand you can have for energy + other stats.

I use an inscribable dead sword with my monk, looks good with an exalted aegis and I love to see the huge sword by a small body.

Weapons are all what you want personally. I have all gold weapons. most are rare skinned. This is only because i like how they look and i had the money to buy them. Before nightfall some of my characters used collectors items and green items because they were easiser to mod how i wanted them. If you have the money and have a sword skin that you like be it something super rare like a C. Scimitar or something cheap like a long sword you shoul pick the one that you like.
